Nikki and Evan’s Wedding

I’d like to start this blog entry by introducing the wedded couple, Nikki and Evan!

Nikki and I have crossed paths through our shared musical circles in the jazz and pop scene. But, funnily enough, the first time we had played together was at a wedding! Full circle, huh? I absolutely loved her playing and her bass guitar sound. We continued to have a few more shows together after the wedding, and every gig was a blast with her!

Her husband is also an astounding composer for the band Crump Cake Orchestra, which has songs that were composed really well — I’m a fan!

Through their shared passion for music, naturally, they bonded well, and their love for each other has only flourished since then.

The preparation for the bride was held in a hotel, and unbridled happiness seemed to continuously roll off of everyone in waves for the duration of it — I couldn’t help but grin all the way! Everyone was anticipating the day to come and how great it would be.

Evan’s awe was evident when he first saw her in her dress. Smiles were all around as family and friends watched on.

We went around the Light Square, one of the five public squares in the Adelaide city centre, and took photos before the ceremony. It was nighttime when we had this photo shoot, but the city lights illuminated the couple in wondrous ways that sunlight never could. I’m still proud of how the photos turned out.

The ceremony itself was very heartfelt; the speeches from friends and family were touching, as well as the music chosen for the aisle walk, registry and the procession. All in all, everyone had such a memorable time.

I also had the opportunity to work with Bree Tonkin as the videographer I took along to help her gain some wedding experience. She was excellent and a delight to work with!

The ceremony and reception were held at Apothecary 1878. It felt very much like time travelling back to 1940s Paris with the luxurious but old-timey vibes the décor had. The underground space was used for the reception, which was very, very nice.

Nikki and Evan’s wedding was a significant occasion that I’m glad I was able to be a part of, and I only wish the absolute best for these two beautiful people in the future!
